GRADE 3/4 BENDIGO CAMP

Sixteen students from Grade 3/ 4 and three teachers went to Bendigo as part of our school camp. We went for two days and one night. We went to the Discovery Science & Technology Centre and did various experiments using the exhibits and my favourite was the vertical slide. We did few chemistry experiments in the lab and we went for a walk in the Botanic Gardens, which is located in the heart of the city. At night we had dinner and after that we attended a planetarium session.

The next day, we went to the Central Deborah Gold Mines and the underground mine tour was very informative. It was very dark in the mine and we wore special helmets with lights to find our way around. Ben, our tour guide, explained to us how gold is extracted from rocks. He also demonstrated how various machines and tools are used in mining. We saw the shiny real gold in the rocks! Then we went on the Talking Tram Trip and learnt about the history of Bendigo city.

On the way back, we stopped at the Lake Weeroona and we played on the big playground. I would like to thank my teachers for organising this camp for us. This was the best camp I have ever had!
